The dense forest surrounding Northwind Lodge and its comfortable cabins remains almost as when grandfather Frank Baltich, woodsman and guide, first settled here and built a log cabin on the shore of Jasper Lake. From this simple beginning so long ago, Northwind Lodge was eventually constructed and is now operated by second and third generations of Baltichs.
Along with the beautiful scenery both in summer and winter, you are apt to see moose, deer, bear, and quite possibly an elusive, though ever-present timberwolf. The waters of Jasper Lake team with life as beavers build their houses, otters goof around, muskrats, mink, and birds of many different feathers continue to thrive here. During the winter, it is not unusual to see wolves cross or have deer walking amoung our scattered cabins.
Throughout our resort, birch trees mingle with Norway pines and aspen. Combined with the blue waters of beautiful Jasper Lake, our wilderness forms a backdrop you won't soon forget! You will be thrilled with the sound of Jasper Creek gurgling its way through our "yard" to its destination, Jasper Lake. Ultimately, the water flowing north in Jasper Creek reaches James Bay in northern Ontario - an exhilarating thought!
We invite you to get away from it all for a week or longer at Northwind Lodge during summer OR winter. Go hiking, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking and try your hand at fishing in the summer. In the winter, stay in one of our warm apartment units and watch the birds, take a crisp snowy hike, go X-C skiing or snowshoeing. Our guest return-rate is 90% with some of our friends returning for over 50 years. Northwind Lodge is always wonderful place to be.
Welcome!
