Instead of Jacuzzis, hot tubs, day-care and lots of scheduled children activities, we provide clean, simple, housekeeping cabins on beautiful  lake Jasper, which I grew up on.  Our cabins look and feel like cabins because they actually are cabins,  not condos or duplex, timeshare-type buildings.  Some have log work that was put in place for an actual function using available resources at the time of construction instead of trying to impress today's city folk with the "rustic, Jeremiah Johnson" feeling like you see in so many coffee franchises and shopping malls around the country .  Our cabins have history in every last board and log that makes them stand.  They weren't all built yesterday and made to look old and "rustic", but they are well kept and they're a lot of work to keep them in good condition. Also, our water comes from a deep well and is inspected by the State of Minnesota and Lake County. Northwind Lodge is a licensed, inspected resort with a very long track record of meeting and exeeding County and State health requirements. And, unlike just about all the resorts in the Ely area, the Baltich family has owned and operated this same resort since the day construction slowly started in  back 1939. This is our home.

Cabin Descriptions

All of the following listed cabins #2 - #8, the TreeTopHAUS and GuestHAUS are complete housekeeping units. Unless otherwise noted, they are equipped with bathrooms including showers, lavatories, and flush toilets, kitchen facilities including a gas range, electric refrigerator, basic kitchen utensils, silverware, plates, etc. They are all carpeted. Microwaves and automatic coffee makers are included for your convenience. BBQ grills are also available. All bed linens are provided. A boat with its own dock-space is provided with each cabin. You must bring your own bath and kitchen towels, soap, and paper towels since these items are not provided.

A comfortable cabin next to our picturesque waterfall. Sleep to the peaceful sounds of Jasper Creek. This cabin has a knotty pine interior with some log work plus an outside deck, picnic table and an available grill. Two bedrooms.  Two double beds and a set of bunks. Sleeps up to six people maximum. A cozy, knotty pine cabin overlooking Jasper Lake. Perfect for two people seeking to get away from it all. Can sleep up to three as it has a daybed. Newly Remodeled! An enchanting cabin with beautiful view of the lake and beach area. Nestled in the side of a hill. Knotty pine interior with large windows. One couple of our guests stayed in this cabin for over 35 summers in a row! Will sleep up to three people with futon. Base Rate for first two people, $60 for an additional person. NIGHTLY RATES - Apartment units (GuestHAUS and TreeTopHAUS) are available on a nightly basis throughout the season with a two-night minimum rental.
